As a writer, I often gravitate towards prose – my works focus on complex, memorable characters in relatable situations, even when cast against a backdrop of science fiction. My love of humor and witty dialogue expresses itself even in dramatic stories about heartbreak, frustration, and prejudice.

Bubblegum

Short story: slice-of-life, teen romance. Written in August 2016. Ever since George Hong came out as trans, his life has been a living hell. His fellow students bully him, his teachers disrespect him… his father won’t even sign his permission slip to go on a field trip. That problem, at least, may have a solution, but George doesn’t like it: it’s his worst enemy, resident troublemaker Iggy Loyola. (Read it here.)

Short story: sci-fi, drama. Submitted to Cicada Magazine in October 2016. Directly after the death of her partner, Lana, human contractor Hikari travels to the far reaches of the galaxy to save a dying alien planet. (Read it here.)
